The Month in Which the Princess Received Gifts: May 2013

Over the past year and a half I have been slowly changing my lolita closet from sweet to classic. In 2011 I actually went on a brief hiatus from the fashion where I sold a crap ton of stuff and just never replaced what I sold. It wasn't until last year when I started actively getting back into lolita that I really began to focus heavily on classic.

I now have a clear mindset on where I want my closet to go in terms of color and overall theme. So I noticed that I didn't have many accessories that matched my current closet. A lot of my older accessories were from when I was really heavily into sweet lolita. So, my lolita haul for May focused on accessories.

Since this is my first haul post I want to let you guys know I primarily use Yoybuy for Taobao shopping and Japonica Market for In store, Mbok and YJapan.

Ok I actually purchased more stuff but that's still either being made or sitting in the warehouse, these are the things that shipped to me in May.

The purse is an imitation MILK bag. I have wanted one for so long, but they sell out fast. Plus let me just be honest I'm not paying over $200 for a heart shaped purse. So off to Taobao it was.

(Where to buy?: Castle Taobao )

Of course it's not a perfect replica of the original MILK bag (it's missing the mini matching heart charm from the older editions, and the small heart inlay on the front from the newer bag design) but it's really adorable. Very sturdy I don't expect to have any major issues with the straps breaking as they feel pretty strong. The inside of the bag is just as roomy as one might expect. I can fit my Galaxy 10.1 tablet (still in its case), my wallet, keys, cellphone, and have room to spare for a tiny  makeup bag. There is a small pocket on the inside that can fit your cellphone, and the inner lining is this cute polka dot fabric. As with any purse I highly suggest stuffing it with something to help keep it's shape when not in use. Mine is currently stuffed with all of the wrappings it came packaged in. If anyone likes the style of the MILK bag, but can't find one or just simply can't afford the original, I suggest buying it from here. It cost $17.69 domestic shipping included, but not International shipping charges. Castle shipped it fast and the purse arrived to Yoybuy within a week of the original purchase date. They currently sell it in Lavender, Mint, Black, Red, and White (sadly no gold).

(Where to buy?: Diana Lou )

I decided to jump on the wavy hair wig trend going around. I didn't want the full throttle monster hair that comes with buying Rhapsody from GLW, I wanted something that looked natural and could easily pass as my own hair. Having purchased two wigs from Diana Lou previously  I knew this was the place to go for exactly what I had in mind. This wig is gorgeous, and I wish I had a better photo of it. It's very soft and light weight. You can just run your fingers right through with no issues. I do worry that it might start to tangle horribly the more it's worn, but so far no issues. (I have tried it on a total of two times at the posting of this review) I purchased it in dark brown, my suggestion for anyone buying wigs from Diana is to always go one shade darker than what you would normally choose. Their wigs run a tad lighter than advertised. I lucked out because this one was the perfect shade, but my previous purchases from them led me to have to darken the wig a bit because it was lighter than what I normally prefer. The wave in this wig is VERY loose and certainly not as defined as the stock image. However, this was perfect for me because as I said I wasn't looking for something too crazy, but please do keep this in mind for yourself when making a decision. It cost $24 including domestic shipping, but not International. It took about three days past the original purchase date for this to arrive at my SS warehouse.

(Where to buy? top to bottom: Girl in Picture Book, Chess Story, Red Maria

To save posting space I had the last three accessories together. The first one is a red roses head band from Girl in Picture Book. This was actually a set it came with one rose headband, two double clip attached roses that can work as a brooch or a hair clip, and one rose hair comb. The whole set cost $11.57 and it comes in three other colors. I'm not for certain the materials the roses are made from because they are kind of on the stiff side for regular silk flowers. The headband is okay you can tell that the flowers are hot glued on and that's the only thing keeping them on the band, but it seems sturdy enough. The other pieces in the set are attached more heavily to the flowers using metal backings for the pins, and sturdy wire for the combs. Also those hanging tassels do detach from the back of the pin. So you don't have to keep them on.

The black flower head piece from Chess Story is no longer available for purchase. It's pretty, dramatic, and kind of on the heavy side for a gothic looking piece. My only issue is that they left trails of hot glue all over it. So I spent a good chunk of time removing the leftover hot glue strands from the hair piece  This caused some issues when some of it was wrapped around the feathers. I believe this was the very last one that they had from this line (These head pieces were meant to match their Name of the Rose dress that came out last fall) so I'm thinking this was just a rush last minute job. This is my first hair accessory from Chess Story so I can't do any real comparison in terms of quality control. It cost $13.22.

The last hair clips are from Red Maria. Red Maria has quickly become one of my favorite lolita accessory shops on Taobao. These clips are made from velvet brown ribbon, with two pretty velvet roses, and a key charm attached to the whole thing. It comes on an alligator clip so it's meant to be a hair accessory or a bag charm if you can clip it on. It's extremely well made and total it came to be $10.30 for two ($4 each not including shipping). I have no complaints about these hair clips they are so cute and I can't wait to wear them out.

I shipped all of this by airmail which ended up being  $17.58 it arrived to me in under a week (so far the fastest time for any airmail order I have had).

On the non Taobao side of things in May I also managed to snag this

from Mbok. It was a great deal considering it's still currently being sold on the A&P website. I originally wanted this dress in red, but the black version is just a lovely. Plus who can argue with getting it 30% less than its original price?

So not a bad haul for May at all. Still waiting on things from Krad Lanerete and Dear Celine, but hopefully that will end up in the June post. I hope this gives you a better idea on which Taobao shops to look out for in terms of loli accessories. Plus feel free to ask if there is any further details you might want to know concerning any of these items.
